History & Heritage

The business began back in 1994 with coffee buyer, James Sweeting and coffee trader, Simon Herring hand roasting coffee in a garden shed.

With extensive knowledge of coffee and a 'few' trips to origin under their belt, the pair set out to become the region's premier coffee supplier. Selling into local coffee shops, golf clubs and even hairdressers, over 25 years later, Lincoln & York now supplies coffee to over 250 customers within the out-of-home market.

The out-of-home UK coffee market is now valued at £3.1 billion and the pop-up roastery at the bottom of Simon's garden that once was, is now a 6,000m2 state-of-the-art facility, located between the two home cities it was named after.

Test

“It's incredible to see the way the coffee industry has changed over the last two decades. At Lincoln & York we've been working behind the scenes in driving innovation and heritage at the core of the growing private label coffee sector.”

James Sweeting, Managing Director

A lot has changed over the years, but our core values have always stayed the same ...

Teamwork

We work together, across functions, to meet the needs of our customers.

Accountability

We take individual and collective responsibility for our actions and we do what we say we will do.  So we value our people, encourage their development and recognise their success.

Trust & Discretion

We guard our customer's blend and their reputation as if they were our own because we operate with the highest standards of integrity in all of our actions.

Fun

We take our coffee seriously but never ourselves. We believe in bringing a smile and a coffee to liven up someone’s day.
