Lincoln & York’s recyclable coffee packaging receives GOLD “Packaging Innovation Award 2020”

Last year, we announced the launch of our recyclable coffee film. In partnership with A. Hatzopoulos S.A, We are proud to have now taken this breakthrough technology one step further, by bringing to the UK market a complete all-PE recyclable coffee packaging range, in partnership with the coffee roaster Lincoln & York. Lincoln & York's recyclable coffee packaging solutions, developed by A. Hatzopoulos S.A., have won the GOLD prize at this year’s "Packaging Innovation Awards 2020".

This internationally-recognized Greek competition supports every year innovation in packaging design, presented by professionals from the packaging, FMCG and creative design sectors. This year, our innovative recyclable packaging development received the highest rating in the most competitive category of the competition: "Sustainable Packaging Design”.

Recyclable Packaging Gold Award

The high-barrier films, developed specifially in partnership for the Lincoln & York packaging range, were designed to keep the roasted coffee fresh and to preserve its delicate aroma & flavor with the same twelve month shelf life as traditional coffee film. Based on the Hatzopoulos X-CYCLE PE concept, the final films are metal-free and their formulations are suitable for recycling through the recycling stream in the UK for LDPE and certified using the OPRL scheme

Available in different designs and formats - 1kg through to 250g retail bags and even single serve coffee bags , the Lincoln & York reyclable coffee range carries a clear environmental claim, in line with our CSR strategy.

In addition to their improved environmental claims, the innovative X-CYCLE PE packaging films have excellent properties, achieving very good performance using our various packaging machines and 100% compatibility with recyclable degassing valves. The final packs’ matt look & feel as well as its resistance to puncture gives them the perfect look & format to attract and appeal to brands that are looking to connect with today’s busy, demanding and environmentally-conscious consumer.
