Vision: A world in which all producers can enjoy secure and sustainable livelihoods, fulfil their potential and decide on their future.
Fairtrade is the most recognised and trusted label in the world (Globescan, 2023), the FAIRTRADE mark means a better deal for coffee growers. By choosing Fairtrade coffee for your business, the farmers who grow your beans earn a fairer price and additional premium which can be invested in their community, farming practices and local environment.
Fairtrade changes the way trade works through upholding fairer working principles and standards, and a fairer deal for farmers and workers who've been disadvantaged by global trade. Fairtrade producers organise collectively, in cooperatives or workers' organisations with a democratic structure and transparent administration, so they have greater bargaining power and control over their businesses.
Fairtrade sets a base price (the Fairtrade Minimum Price) for certified growers which acts as a safety net for farmers in a volatile market, and a Fairtrade Premium - an extra sum of money paid on top of the selling price - for producer organisations to invest in business, community or environmental prodjects, democratically chosen by their members.
Vision: We envision a world where people and planet prosper together.
The Rainforest Alliance works to conserve biodiversity and ensure sustainable livelihoods on coffee farms. The organisation works to promote healthy ecosystems and communities in some of the world’s most vulnerable ecosystems.
RFA certification focuses on how farms are managed. It encompasses all three pillars of sustainability - social, economic and environmental, and empowers farmers with the knowledge and skills to negotiate for themselves in the global marketplace.
Rainforest Alliance certification and training teaches farmers, workers, and their families to farm efficiently and responsibly, growing their bottom lines today and conserving the fertile soils and natural resources on which they and their children will depend on in the future.
Vision: Crop has been grown without the use of genetically modified organisms (GMOs), synthetic chemicals, fertilizers, antibiotics, or hormones.
Organic coffee has been produced using environmentally and animal friendly farming methods. This includes the importance of soil, crop fertilisation, weed control, pest control and environmental management and conservation. Consumers are assured any detrimental effects to human health and the environment have been minimised during production.
